These are recommended sites relevant to the birth of the modern state of Israel. They provide us with an opportunity to focus on the challenges and triumphs of the last 130 years of the Jewish national movement.  They can be combined with other sights and attractions.

-Quaint towns and neighborhoods such as Zichrone Yaakov, Rosh Pinna and Neveh Tzedek, settled in the late 19th by the first pioneers.

- The Kinneret Cemetery, to gain a better understanding of the motivations and goals of Zionist pioneers of the early 20th century.

- At Kibbutz Revivim or Sde Boker we'll come to understand the motivations of those who toiled to make the desert bloom.

- At Atlit, a well preserved British prison camp, we'll learn about the plight of displaced Jews seeking to find a new home in Eretz Israel.

- Beit HaPalmach in Tel Aviv provides the visitor with a moving presentation of the history of an elite pre state fighting unit.  Akko prison tells the story of the ultimate price paid by those who resisted British rule of the Jewish homeland.

- At The Ayalon Institute discover how a local clandestine munitions industry was created right under the noses of the British.

- At Independence Hall in Tel Aviv, we'll relive the dramatic moments leading up to Israel's declaration of Independence in 1948.

- Kibbutz Yad Mordechai is a site where Jewish fighters inspired by uprisings in Europe, fought a desperate battle against invading Egyptians in May of 1948.

- On the Road to Jerusalem, you may want to hike up the Castel fortress to recount the desperate attempts to open up the road to Jerusalem during the war of independence. Or visit the armored corps memorial and museum at Latrun.

- Walk in the footsteps of Israel's soldiers during the 1967 Six Day War at Ammunition Hill in Jerusalem or go on an off road adventure that will take you through the battlefields of Golan Heights.

- At OZ 77 on the Golan Heights we’ll recount the stories of heroism and super human efforts which saved the day for Israel, during the 1973 Yom Kippur War. Ascend to Mount Bental for a bird’s eye view into Syria in order to consider the strategic significance of the Golan Heights.

- Get a close up view of Israel’s security barrier which straddles areas captured in 1967.

- Mount Herzl to visit the resting places of some of the Great Leaders of Israel. We will also remember Israel’s fallen heroes at the military cemetery.

- The Yitzhak Rabin Museum and Menachem Begin Heritage Center are both great places to learn about the life and times of two Israeli leaders on opposite sides of the political spectrum.

- Tours can also be arranged of Israel's parliament known as the Knesset and Israel's architecturally intriguing Supreme Court building.
