Here’s a sample itinerary:
Day 1:
Afternoon Arrival at Ben-Gurion airport. Transfer to Tel-Aviv. We start in Jaffa the ancient port originally assigned to the Israelite tribe of Dan to recount Jonah’s encounter with the whale. This is where St. Peter’s had his vision of the clean and unclean animals and where he brought back to life the young woman Tabitha.
Overnight in Tel Aviv.
Day 2:
Like Peter we'll set out from Jaffa for Caesarea where Cornelius awaited his visit. Caesarea was an impressive port city built by King Herod and capital of the Roman Empire in ancient Judea. Then on to Megiddo (Armageddon) Across the Jezreel Valley and on to Nazareth the Mount of Precipice and to the Church of the Annunciation. Then on to Cana to see the site of the first miracle of Jesus.
Overnight in Upper Galilee
Day 3:
At Tel Dan we’ll learn about ancient Israelite history and archeology before heading to the Banias (Caesarea Philippi) the place where Simon became Peter after identifying Jesus as Christ. At this point we’ll ascend towards Mount Hermon a traditional site of the Transfiguration. Optional kayaking on the Jordan River.
Day 4:
Head south to the Mount of Beatitudes, the site of the Sermon on the Mount, followed by a visit to Tabgha the site of the Multiplication of Loaves and Fishes. On to Capernaum, home base of Jesus’ Ministry. See the ancient synagogue next to Peter’s first church. After a lunch of St. Peter’s Fish at Kibbutz Ein-Gev, it’s on to the Yardenit Baptismal site. Then down the Rift Valley to Jerusalem and the Mount of Olives, where we will take in a beautiful view of Jerusalem's old city and the Temple Mount.
Overnight in Jerusalem
Day 5:
Visit the City of David, the original site of where King David established a capital for the Jewish people three thousand years ago. This is also the location of the Pool of Siloam where Jesus sent the blind man to be healed. Then on to the Temple Mount’s southern wall excavations. After a visit to the Western Wall we’ll explore the Jewish Quarter and a visit to the Cardo and shops, and finish the day at Bethlehem.
Overnight in Jerusalem
Day 6:
Our day begins at the The Room of The Last Supper. In the footsteps of Jesus we will head down the slopes of Mt Zion to the Garden of Gethsemane, the site where Jesus was arrested and enter the Basilica of the Agony known also as the Church of All Nations. Entering St. Stephan’s Gate, see the Pools of Bethesda, while walking the route of the Via Dolorosa and Church of the Holy Sepulcher. After lunch, we go on the Garden Tomb Overnight in Jerusalem.
